I am helping my sister in her search for a new car. She is looking at compact SUVs and has narrowed the search to the RAV4, Escape, and Forester. There are pluses and minuses to each, but my advice to her was to put a lot of weight on the resale value in case she decides to get something else down the road. Does anyone know where I can find five year residual values for each model?

You can't, because nobody knows what their selling price in 5 years will be.
The only way to know that is if they had 5-year leases, in which the residual is listed. However, you can find a 3-year residual value though.

I would look for comparable optioned versions of each that are now 5 years old. My guess is that the RAV4 holds the most value.

Any idea where I might find the 3 year? Tried NADA and KBB, but only found the awards, thus not all models were included.

That would be mine too, I'm just trying to give her some numbers.

Let me help you.
Rav4 is horrible in small overlap crash test. Ford Escape is horrible in small overlap crash test. Also, the number of Escape recalls is too damn high! (7 so far).
Forester, on the other hand, is a Top Safety Pick +.
In terms of reliability, the Japanese cars will last a lot longer than the 'Murican one.
While Car&Driver picks the CX-5 over the Forester, the win is very slight and the CX-5 has a Marginal in the small overlap test. The Forester is in a close second, with the RAV4 trailing far behind.
Look at these comparisons: here and here for rav4 vs forester.
Decision made. Subie FTW. You might pay a bit more up front, but I think the Subaru is a much better decision than the Toyota or Ford.
You and your sister are welcome to make your own decision, though. This was just my small compilation and input.

Go on a few test drives with her and drive a RAV4 with the 3.5 V6. While it's a bit squirrely at initial throttle tip in, it's quite fast for the box on wheels that it is.

From the dealer. It's part of the terms of the lease. You even see it most of the time on ads for those leases.

ALG is the industry standard for residual values. Cars.com has a tool

I would also suggest picking up a current copy of Consumer Reports New Car guide and look at the "True Cost to Own" figs.

No more V6 in the RAV at least I think they dropped it...

I shop this segment all the time for clients. I tend to steer them away from the Ford due to quality control issues. 3 recalls for engine fires on the same car (1.6 ecoboost) is inexcusable, and there is the wonky SYNC system. The RAV is nice but when it comes down to that and the Subie every client of mine goes for the Forester. AWD standard (and one of the best in the biz) and the CVT is quite nice and smooth , the Subie also feels more upscale than the others.

Here ya go. I used Honda's comparison tool. http://automobiles.honda.com/tools/compare/…
(I know that she isn't considering the CR-V, but Honda has one of the easiest to use comparison websites out there.)

They did, but there are some to be had in the pre-owned market.

Gotcha. Yeah the V6 RAV was darn quick. I also liked the Turbo Foresters, both cars were a bit overkill for a compact crossover, but fun nonetheless.
